Unlike the usual fixed-ratio compression, this tool uses binary search on quality plus smart downscaling: it first finds the highest quality between 5 and 95 that fits your target size, and if the file is still too large it gradually shrinks the dimensions until the result lands within your target range.

Compression runs locally in your browser — images are never uploaded and never leave your device, and we never have access to them. Metadata such as EXIF (shooting location, device info) is stripped during processing, further protecting your privacy.

How do I compress an image to a specific size (KB)?

After choosing an image, enter the KB value you want (e.g. 100, 200, 500) in the “Target size” field and click “Compress image”. The tool automatically adjusts quality and dimensions to fit within your target.

Which image formats are supported?

You can add JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP files, and export as JPEG, PNG or WebP. If size matters most, WebP is recommended.

What if it can't reach the target size exactly?

When lowering quality alone isn't enough, the tool scales the image down step by step (up to 10 attempts). If the target still can't be met, it returns the closest result along with a notice.

Are my images uploaded to a server? Is it private?

No. All compression happens locally in your browser; images never leave your device and are never uploaded, stored or collected. You can even disconnect from the network and compression will still work.

Will the compressed image look blurry?

Compression adjusts quality within a controlled range; at reasonable target sizes the difference is almost invisible. The smaller the target, the stronger the compression and the more detail is lost, so aim for a balance between clarity and file size.
