About us

256 Toolbox is a free online image compressor for everyone, helping you quickly shrink JPG, PNG and WebP images to a target KB size. Whether for registration, platform uploads or web optimisation, if there's a size limit, you can meet it here in a few steps.

Why we built this tool

Many websites impose strict size limits on image uploads, yet most people aren't comfortable with professional image software. We automated the fiddly “tune quality + resize” process so you only need to enter a number to get an image that fits.

Our principles

• Free and open: no sign-up, no login, no usage limits.
• Privacy first: compression runs locally in your browser; images are never uploaded and never leave your device.
• Simple and reliable: a clean interface, intuitive controls, and results that stay as close to your target size as possible.
